As 2013 comes to a close, many of us will spend at least a little time reflecting on the year that has passed and will give some thought to what we would like to have happen over the next 12 months. My deliberations on these topics continually come around to this – I am incredibly lucky (and thankful) to have so many people who, through their patient guidance, help me take scary steps in new directions. And I hope they are willing to keep doing it!
My goal for 2014 is to regularly express my thanks to those who serve as springboards for me. These special people commit their time and share their expertise in ways that allow me to enter unknown territory with the right balance of confidence and fear. They let me know about the landscape as they have experienced it, but mostly they convey a genuine belief in my ability to navigate whatever enters my path.
Your success when taking bold steps toward your hoped for future relies in part on the people you choose to be connected with. Be intentional and strategic about who provides you counsel when you think about the specifics of what you hope to accomplish in 2014. Make sure that they care enough about you to not only provide support, but are willing to give you a shove off the dock when you need it.
And with this last post of 2013, I would like to thank all those who provided me with feedback about my blog this year. If you are simply a reader and not a commentor, thanks to you too! BTW, this is one of those scary, yet enjoyable things I do every week. I invite you all to continue this journey with me and hope I can provide, on occasion, something helpful to you in your life. If you are so inclined, feel free to invite others who may find these weekly missives of interest to sign up to receive them automatically via email.
Happy New Year!
